Scientist in the field of construction materials and chemistry Kostyantin G. Dementyev: new information to biography

Abstract— Based on various written sources, the article presents the new biographic information about Kostyantin G. Dementyev (1864–1916), scientist who worked in the branch of construction materials and chemistry, Director of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute of Emperor Alexander II in 1908–1911. In particular, attention is drawn to activity of Kostyantin G. Dementyev after his discharge from KPI and leaving Kyiv. There is provided more detailed information regarding the terms and specific of his work in Don Polytechnic Institute of Tsesarevich Alexei (Novocherkassk, The Province (Oblast) of the Don Cossack Host) in 1911–1914, where his promising undertakings were not fulfilled because of his health problems that led to the conflict with the Institute administration and his dismissal. In the article the circumstances of activity of Kostyantin G. Dementyev in Sengiley (Simbirsk province) in 1914–1916 – at the First district cement plant– are also reproduced. He was at the head of construction of the cement plant, where production of high quality cement was launched. He was also managing initial works on the plant on production of sulfuric acid, liquid chlorine, chloric lime in Sengiley The new materials that has not been known to researchers before are introduced into scientific circulation.
