Books from the private library of Kiev Polytechnic teacher I.G. Rekashev in collection of rare and valuable books the Scientific and Technical Library of NTUU "KPI"

Abstract— The article is devoted to books from private collection of one of Kyiv Polytechnics lecturers that were given to the library at the beginning of its formation. There has been made an attempt to investigate publications from different fields of science and technology and also tutorials of the 19th century; history of its existence by scrutiny of polygraphed elements (covers, flyleaves, title pages), typographical and proprietary stamps, inscriptions and other book’s shoulder heads. There’s compiled not numerous background of the owner – lecturer of descriptive geometry Isydor Grygorovych Rekashev and information about other grantor – professor of Kyiv University of Rakhmaninov. The article includes evidence about nearly 30 publications in Russian, German, French and English, and its authors are prominent scientists, lecturers of the universities and different technical educational establishments, engineers from Europe and Russia. Chronological frame is 1804–1889. While writing the article there were used official documents and historical materials of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute of the beginning of 20th century (that preserved in the library); materials of the web-sites of Kyiv universities (in particular of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University) and electronic resources about history and development of higher technic education in Ukraine.
