Formation of Filonenko's scientific outlook

Abstract— The article discusses general factors influencing formation of a scientific world outlook of the railway engineer Maximilian Filonenko. The basic directions of his activity are reviewed. The main goal of Filonenko's activity was a socio-educational work among the broadest strata of engineers, especially in the sphere of train traffic. His biography and main directions of his professional activity were analyzed. Three educational establishments were examined: First Zhytomyr male gymnasium; Kyiv University of St. Vladimir; Petersburg Institute of Transportation Engineers ― those where Maximilian Filonenko studied. The role of Filonenko's teachers and professors is shown. For the first time the chronology of the formation of Filonenko's scientific world outlook is scientifically grounded with presentation of Maximilian Filonenko as the outstanding railway engineer in railway transport department and technical railway traffic.
