The emergence of the sugar beet industry in Ukraine. The first sugar factories

Abstract Considered controversial, unresolved and controversial issues origin and early history of sugar production in Ukraine. It is shown that the sugar mill in the village Troschine (Kanev district of Cherkasy region), which is considered to be the first built in modern Ukrainian land is not. Instead, the first Ukrainian sugar refineries was a factory in the village Buchak (ibid). It was built Yosyp Gnatovych Poniatowski in 1822. On the surroundings of the village Buchak discovered an authentic piece of the territory of the old industrial zone ( «Zhavodysche») within which the first Ukrainian sugar mill. In 1822, also have been experimenting with sugar, held background family fon Mrozovitsky on the territory of Ivano-Frankivsk region (village Sokolivka and Puzhnyky of Berezhany district). The second in Ukraine by the time of (1825) was a sugar mill in the village Makoshyno (now urban village in the Mena district of Chernigov region). She founded Alexey Kusheliov-Bezborodko. Briefly mentioned also about sugar plants in 1825-1828 years in Bershad, Ryzhavka, in Olhopolskyi and Sumy counties. However, it is shown that information about the plant, built on the Ukrainian territory until 1822 (Uman, the beginning of the nineteenth century; Bobrovytsa, 1807, Kharkiv, 1811; Severynivka, 1812-1820 years; Klembivka, 1814), most likely, are false, or mythological.
